The increasing threats of terrorism make it crucial for Malaysia and Singapore to keep sharing information as much as possible. This action can increase border security and protect nations against terrorism.

According to Singapore’s Senior Minister of State for Manpower and Defence Zaqy Mohamad, this collaboration plays an important role. He also highlighted how simple items like drones can be dangerous for citizens if misused. He also said that harmless objects can easily be turned into dead tools through terrorism. Drones whose operation is simple and can also be utilized for good purposes.

But at the same time, it can take the lives of many innocent ones if wrong people use it. Zaqy also shared that he recently discussed the evolving methods of terrorism with Malaysian Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin. He emphasized that both countries already have strong cooperation in maritime security, especially in the Strait of Malacca, which is a vital sea route. However, the ongoing collaboration is an extra safety step that keeps away both nations from potential threats.

After the recent attack at the police station in Ulu Tiram, Johor, it is important to focus on counter-terrorism. This incident clearly points out the threat and requirement for vigilance.

In order to address the shared concerns, this platform is very important.

Also, Zaqy stands in favour of Palestine in the ongoing conflict between Palestine and Israel. He also shared his experience in humanitarian relief efforts. This also includes the mission to Jordan last March to assist Gaza by providing good aid. He clearly differentiates both terms, supporting humanitarian efforts and engaging in or endorsing terrorism and armed violence. He highlighted Singapore’s own challenges with self-radicalization related to the Israel-Hamas conflict.

Zaqy also mentioned that Singapour is a nation that strongly supports the United Nations resolutions. This nation always fulfils its commitment regarding aid during conflict and shows that its commitment is fair and brings a peaceful solution. The global community is under great stress due to the ongoing Gaza war and the lack of progress in the ceasefire deal. This frustration is understandable because of the complex nature of the conflict.

Zaqy’s reflection highlights the complexities involved in finding a lasting solution, as well as the challenges that come with diplomacy and international cooperation. He stressed the importance of continued efforts and dialogue to work toward a peaceful resolution that benefits everyone involved.

Singapore’s economic market provides opportunities for Malaysian workers at all levels. They play a crucial role in all sectors that greatly enhance the economic growth of the nation.

According to him, “At the Work Pass level, you’ll find Malaysian workers in our food and beverage outlets. At the S-Pass level, we have technicians, and at the professional levels, lawyers, bankers and doctors too.”

How many local or foreign workers work depends upon the industry. In the case of the construction industry, the number of local workers is less as compared to foreign workers. This lack of this number is due to the fact that foreign workers are more interested in working in construction as compared to Singaporeans. Each industry has its own requirements. So, it is important for the worker to balance these needs. Some industries have a rule to hire more foreign workers as compared to local ones. At the same time, others might need stricter limits to protect local jobs and ensure fair employment opportunities.

Additionally, while it’s true that it’s easier to hire Malaysians compared to workers from other countries, there are no special incentives or rewards for doing so. The reason Malaysians are hired more often is simply because the process is more straightforward and convenient, not because they are given any special treatment. This is just a practical decision based on ease of hiring.

Many Malaysians are still in Singapore just like other people from different nations. It includes China, the US, Mexico, Canada and Europe.

This seems to be a normal part of the job market, but the exchange rate can also impact things.

As for how Singapore is bouncing back from the COVID-19 pandemic, I think some industries are still catching up or are influenced by current demand. From what I see, the growth we’re noticing is really part of the recovery. Areas like health, technology, banking, and manufacturing are continuing to grow and develop.
