From missiles to warfare How Iran’s actions could ignite a wider conflict
Credit: Reuters

This week, Iran targeted Israel with more than 180 missiles and said this attack was revenge for killing Hamas ‌and Hezbollah leaders. However, after this attack, many people wondered how strong Iran’s reaction was.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will never forget this attack and will trike back when it is ready. During a meeting with Israel’s security team, he stated,

“If we are attacked, we will respond.”

The Biden administration strongly opposed ‌Iran’s action and said that the US is standing in favour of Israel. The White House warned Iran about the severe results of this attack but also urged caution. At the same time, President Joe Biden advised to target ‌Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Now the question is: How will Israel attack back to Iran and will this attack lead to war? There are many chances that the current complicated situation between Iran and Israel could turn into a larger war. However, in this not only Iran and Israel will be involved but also the United States, which could make the region more unstable.

The regional war has already begun. It spread across the Middle East. For more than a year, the Gaza war started. This war not only affects Israel and Hamas but also other nations and groups. This conflict involves many big nations such as the US, China, Russia, and Iran.

Regional war is started

However, both Israel and the United States are in one party. US support for Israel, military and diplomatically. At the same time, Russia and Iran both are in one party. Russia helps Iran by supporting it through fighter jets and defence systems. Both of these nations strongly opposed Israel for its aggressive actions. Russia is also buying weapons from Iran for its war in Ukraine, which gives Iran more money.

China also supported Iran. Due to this strong support, the nation is directly involved in the conflict. Israel is fighting in multiple areas: In Gaza, more than 40,000 Palestinians have died, and although Hamas is weaker, it still controls some areas. In the West Bank, Israel is responding to attacks from groups funded by Iran.

The collaboration of different nations shows how complicated the conflict is and how different global powers make it worse.

Many other Israel’s allied groups continue to attack Israel with different weapons. It includes Shi’a militias in Iraq and Syria and Houthi rebels in Yemen. In response, both Israel and the US have given a reaction by targeting Houthis in Yemen.

Lebanon is in critical condition. On October 7, Hamas attacked ‌Israel which took the lives of 1200 people. After this incident, Hezbollah started firing rockets at Israel to show favouritism to Hamas. This firing compelled Israel’s citizens to leave their homes. Approximately 60,000 Israelis flee near the border.

In response, Israel took strong military action. Benjamin Netanyahu issued an order to destroy the devices used by Hezbollah. After this, Israel launched airstrikes to finish the weapons of Hezbollah and carried out ground attacks on Hezbollah positions.

The main purpose of Israel is to stop Hezbollah from attacking northern Israel. Because Hamas strikes Southern Israel. As a result, about one million people in Lebanon have fled their homes.

Now recently, Iran commenced an attack on Israel, aiming at military bases. Israel’s defence system was successful in stopping most of these missiles. For this purpose, the US and Jordan help Israel.

In this missile strike, one Palestinian died. Iran attempted this attack on Israel for the 2nd time. Recently, the first attack led Israel to hit an Iranian defence system.

Israel is ready to attack Iran

Israel’s response might destroy ‌certain parts of Iran. It includes banks, communication and transportation networks, oil facilities, etc. This revenge of Israel has been aimed at threatening Iran’s government.

To protect against assassination attempts, Iran’s leaders have moved Supreme Leader Khamenei to a safe place.

Iran needs to maintain its nuclear government. This is the only way to build atomic bombs. Israel and the US are also worried that Iran may attack, which would damage its nuclear sites.

After some recent fighting, Iran quickly said it wanted to calm things down, but the situation has changed. Hamas thought Israel would be weak after its October 7 attack, but Israel fought back strongly and hurt Hamas a lot. Hezbollah and Iran also underestimated Israel’s power. Now, Israel has a good chance to strike back at Iran, and Prime Minister Netanyahu will likely take action.
